We engage as a “swat team”, and can configure ourselves flexibly depending the situation.

We are creative, open-minded, and relatively agnostic on industry or technical discipline; we are able to digest highly technical concepts and translate them into business questions and solutions. Ultimately, we are most drawn to projects that have an element of meaningful disruption, be it technical or business model, and where our combination of deep operational experience across businesses and business functions, as well as our deep technical knowledge and familiarity with the broader arcs of successes and failures learnt over decades of “seeing and doing”, can be brought to bear.

We are unconventional in that we are not a typical seed investor or VC firm, a consulting firm, nor are we other forms of passive capital. We are willing to put our personal capital at risk, have skin in the game, roll up our sleeves, and help the right teams and companies grow, trouble-shoot, strategize, execute, and succeed. We seek to share risk and participate in upside from the shared journey. We hope we bring not just capital, ideas and insights, but wisdom, humility and humour.

We see ourselves as a roving Venture Partner team/tack-on Board/multi-headed investor Medusa looking for interesting projects to work on.  While the underlying business premise needs to be sound and compelling, our overriding principle is to curate a set of projects that provide for a rewarding and engaging journey for our group (and our partners). We don’t have to do this to put food on the table, and we are not doing this to generate a return for someone else. We believe we are damn good at what we do, and are banding together to share our learnings, learn from one another, continue our own growth, have some some fun, and make some impact.

For the right partners (management, owners, founders and other partners in the Cap Table), we believe our model of engagement will be equally rewarding, compelling and enjoyable.

On occasion, we will roll out the full complement of the seven samurai.  In other settings, it may be that a more select engagement with a subset of us would suffice and be optimal.

Like the other MI6, we do not post our physical address or our bios; we believe in working discreetly with our partners.
